It seems that companies overall are experiencing an uptick in travel, and the majority of my clients are looking for nutrition related travel solutions because of this increase. Travel often comes with increased likelihood of dehydration, digestive woes, inconsistent meal timing (if we aren’t prepared), and sleep issues due to time zone hops. Let’s dive into some simple tools and products that you can take with you.
A Water Bottle. Sounds simple, but having it in your space makes you more likely to refill it. Ensure it is BPA free and bonus points for having the ounces easily visible, so that you know how much you are getting in each day.
An Eye Mask. Managing light at night is important, especially when sleep is compromised due to time zone hopping.
Stasher Bags. Need a place to put all of the snacks I’m about to recommend? Stasher has you covered.
AG1 Travel Packs. Helpful for general energy, digestion and stress resilience. I always say this is good for maintenance (not for everyone, especially if you are in the weeds with gut issues). You can simply take it with water in the morning on your way to your flight.
Oh! Nuts Travel Snack Packs. Good quality, satiating, and inexpensive. Easily paired with a shelf stable (orange, banana, apple) or dried fruit for a snack.
Trader Joe’s Dried Mango Slices. This will give you some potassium and fiber, and plays along with the common theme that it is easily transported.
Protein Bars such as RX or Go Macro. Both have around 11-12 g of protein and perfect for airports or a satiating snack in between meals.
Beauty and the Broth. These unique bone broth packets are very transportable and packet with complementary spices. If you are looking for a soothing snack on the road or actively working towards improving your gut issues, this one’s for you.
Oats Overnight making overnight oats and storing them in your mini fridge is feasible, but if you’re looking for something even easier I would look into oats overnight for your breakfasts. Each serving has about 20 g of protein and 7 g of fiber to set your blood sugar up for success while working on the road.
Biena Chickpea Snacks are great if you’re looking for a crunch. One serving is around 6 g of fiber for blood sugar support and they have fun flavors like ranch, bbq, everything bagel seasoning, and more.
Chomps or Epic. Both are quality, nitrite free jerky. If you are pescatarian, Epic has a salmon jerky.
Freestyle Snacks. They have snack/ travel packs of olives to work in some quality fiber and fat into your travel eating.
Justin’s Nut Butter Packets. The perfect solution if you need some quick energy.
Whether you are traveling for work or leisure, you are going to need some fuel to make the most out of it. These tips can help you keep up eating frequency, prevent dehydration, and sleep well to prevent brain fog, “hanger”, and energy slumps.
